this one's a winner

Lunch with Michou at Hog Island! I will forever be in love with their clam chowder. It's unlike any other i've ever tasted because it's not thick or chunky, and closer to a broth. The real kicker is basically a bowl full of clams! Trust, you will not be dissapointed.

halfway to the holidays

[5.22.11]

Yelp hosted an elite event at the republic in the Marina. In addition to the white elephant exchange we got to sample Crispin cider and beer from Ninkasi Brewing Company! We didn't get decked out in our ugly swearters, but we tried to blend in with the festivities!

Of course we weren't ready to end the night yet, so we headed over to one of my favorite taco joints after which was only a few blocks away. TACOLICIOUS has amazing tacos and drinks. And my all time favorite taco is the shot-a-beer braised chicken!

food for my soul

[5.22.11]

There's a handful of places I love to eat in the TL, and Brenda's if definitely one of my top 3. I only wish the parking and wait time wasn't so terrible. Luckily since the art show was around the corner so we didn't need to find parking this time. Usually the wait is at least an hour and then another 40+min to eat, so thats about 2 hours of meter time. At $3/hr on the meter, that's a bag full of quarters!! Still, Brenda's is freaking worth it. Their grits were heavy, but full of flavor. The po' boy was one of my favs since we got a shrimp and oyster combo. And the beignets are a must try! With savory and sweet options, you can't go wrong! The biggest part is figuring how to stuff it all in your tummy because by the time I'm done, you practically have to roll me out the door!

we found art in a hopeless place

[5.22.11]

Started the day off at artMRKT at the Concourse Center. Definitely enjoyed some of the pieces, but I had mixed feelings since others were a bit stuffy for my taste.

Went to ArtPadSF which was hosted at the Phonix hotel in the Tenderloin, and we all know how sketch the TL can be at times. But when we walked into the exhibit, it felt like we were transported to another place. It definitely wasn't what I expected. Each room hosted a different gallery and I fell in love with succulent lined wall that was adjacent to the bar. I want to have one just like it when I have my own place!

crepe-night-snack

Didn't make it in to our friends bday since the line was not moving at all at Sloane. So instead we decided to make our trip worthwhile and stop by the crepe truck. SO WORTH IT!! Whether you're craving sweet or savory, they have something for everyone. The guy who works the truck is a hoot too.

Day 116: food gluttony

Today should go down in history as a major food holiday. No seriously.

Lunch w/ Michou @ Chaya. The salmon was delicious. And the bread pudding according to our waiter was "life changing", but according to us the croissant in the pudding was definitely a good choice.

Dinner at LOCANDA. Woot wooot!! Yes, I got excited because we were able to get a reservation with short notice even though this place is booked for days!! Why?? Because Aimee was home for the week from NY! Definitely a good decision to go here and I tried things I've never tried before... like sweetbreads and rabbit! To top it all we had the freshest strawberry tart/pie at the restaurant and finished off with a second dessert at Smittens! The latest n greatest in the ice cream world since they make it right before your very eyes using fresh ingredients and liquid nitrogen. NEAT-O for sure!

I can't wait for our next foodie adventure together! It def was food overkill at its best, and I don't think we would have done it any other way ;)
